    1. Recognition through cash receipts and payments.
    2. Timing of recorded revenue and expenditure.
    3. Effects on reported results and position.
  2. Accrual basis

    1. Earned income and incurred expenses.
    2. Receivables, payables and period allocation.
    3. Compare both bases using identical transactions.
